EXCLUSIVE: Cagliari turn down chance to sign Ghana midfielder Alfred Duncan despite successful loan stint

Sports Director at Cagliari Calcio, Stefano Capozucca has stated emphatically that the club has no intention to sign Ghana midfielder Alfred Duncan on a permanent basis this summer.

The Italian Serie A outfit in the winter transfer window completed the signing of the former Sassuolo man to boost their squad in hopes of escaping relegation.

In addition to securing the services of a number of players, Cagliari Calcio, fortunately, amassed the needed points to stay in the Italian top-flight league at the end of the 2020/2021 football season.

While there have been talks that the club is looking at the possibility of retaining the services of Alfred Duncan on a permanent basis, Sports Director Stefano Capozucca has refuted those claims.

In an interview, he has stressed that although the Ghana midfielder impressed, the club does not want to sign him this summer.

“We have no intention of redeeming him. He gave us a great hand but will return 100% to Fiorentina,” Stefano Capozucca said.

Duncan, 28, for now, will return to Fiorentina before deciding on his future.
