We need Thomas Partey back from injury urgently – Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta insists

The manager of Arsenal, Mikel Arteta has indicated that Ghana international Thomas Partey is still injured.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s EFL Cup match against Brentford on Wednesday night, the Gunners manager said the team needs Thomas Partey and all other injured players fit as soon as possible.

“It’s the situation that we have at the moment….We have to adapt. The squad that we have at the moment is really short and we need players back, that’s for sure," Mikel Arteta said.

Over the weekend, new signing Declan Rice joined Thomas Partey and Jurrien Timber on the injury list of Arsenal.

Manager Mikel Arteta is hoping that Rice’s injury is not as bad as feared.

“Declan hasn’t trained yet. He could not carry on in the game, he wasn’t comfortable at all. Hopefully, it’s not something big.

"We are confident. He’s still uncomfortable, he had to leave the pitch and that’s never a good sign for a player like him, but hopefully, he will progress in the next few days. It’s a tough one,” Mikel Arteta noted.
