West Ham Boss Slaven Bilic Opens Up on Daniel Sturridge Speculation Ahead of Liverpool Fixture

Published on: 09 December 2016

Slaven Bilic's West Ham take on Liverpool this Sunday and the Croatian has had a few words to say about Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge, who has been linked with a move to the Hammers.

In an interview reported by theLiverpool EchoBilic said:"All the clubs are thinking about him [Sturridge]because he is that kind of player.

"He's one of the biggest talents, he's a great player."

Bilic continued:"The talent is there, the touch, the finishing, everything is great. The only thing that's stopped him being regular for club and country are the injuries."

Despite remaining injury-free for large parts of the season, Sturridge has had his first-team opportunities significantly limited by the form of Coutinho, Mane and Firmino.

Unfortunately for Klopp as well as the striker, Sturridge is carrying an injury and is unavailable now that a first-team spot is up for grabs.

West Ham already have an injury prone former Liverpool man in Andy Carroll but a player of Sturridge's calibre would make a huge difference to the Hammers if they were able to get him.

The Croatianwent on to say:"He's just a player that has been linked with us, basically, and we've been linked with almost every player.

"We're always there in contention. Most of the time it's absolutely not true, 95 percent of the time. But you're asking me about Sturridge and I have no problem about that."

Bilic finished off by saying:"I don't know his work rate, I don't know his dedication to his job or whatever but unfortunately for England and for Liverpool and especially for him he's injured. That's his problem."

With West Ham on the brink of a relegation battle, a move to the London Stadium looks highly unlikely at this point.

However, despite vigorously ruling out a move away from the club in January, a summer move could be entirely possible for Sturridgewho quite clearly isn't part of Klopp's immediate first-team plans.
