West Ham Considering Replacing Slaven Bilic With Highly-Acclaimed Championship Manager

Published on: 21 November 2016

Slaven Bilic seemed just the man for West Ham last season, having guided the club to a seventh-place finish in what was a very exciting campaign. But fast-forward a few months, and you see a man in trouble.

With just three wins so far this term, the Hammers are dangling just above the relegation zone in the 17th spot, with 11 points to their name.

And according to theTelegraph, the club's officials are considering sacking him and replacing him with Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez. They are also said to be considering Bournemouth's Eddie Howe, as well as Roberto Mancini and Rudi Garcia.

Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold, along withvice-chairman Karren Brady, fear that the club could go into the busy festive period in the drop zone. And that would leave them with a very hard choice to make.

The owners do not like firing managers, and have been quite patient with Bilic. However, having controversially moved to the Olympic Stadium this year, they cannot risk relegation.

Apart from the team's horrendous form, the manager has come under fire for his summer signings, who have yet to produce anything of note. Bilic signed Andre Ayew for £20m during the summer, but he only just returned from injury.Simone Zaza, Arthur Masuaku and Gokhan Tore, though, have all been under-performing.

Havard Nordtveit cost his team a point in the derby match against Spurs on the weekend, coming on as a late sub to give away a penalty at the death. And what's worse is that he came on to replace star Frenchman Dimitri Payet.

If Bilic can't turn things around soon, then it's highly likely that he'll be axed. But the club may have a hard time convincing Benitez or Howe to give up their projects at their clubs.
