West Ham's Injury Woes Continue as Diafra Sakho Is Ruled Out for Three Weeks With Hamstring Injury

Published on: 28 November 2016

West Ham have had horrid luck this season in terms of injuries.

Firstly Andy Carroll crocked himself after completing his first full pre-season at the club, this followed a three-month spell on the sidelines from Diafra Sakho, who has since returned and re-injured himself.

Sakho, 26, suffered a hamstring injury in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford in what was just his second games since returning from a lengthy absence.

Initial fears were that the Senegalese striker may be ruled out until Christmas, but scans have come back on Tuesday revealing that he should only miss the next three weeks.

The news will still come as a blow to West Ham though, who before Saturday hadn't seen a striker on their books score a goal since May.

Sakho will now miss the Old Trafford rematch on Wednesday, which will see the Hammers travel up for the second time in four days to take on United in the EFL Cup.

Long term treatment-table-warmer Andy Carroll was thought to be back in contention with playing on Sunday, but he wasn't picked in the matchday squad by Slaven Bilic, prompting paranoiaover yet another injury.

If Carroll is still ruled out on Wednesday, West Ham may have to put loan-flop Simone Zaza up-front on his own, which is sure to enrage a large section of the 7,900 travelling supporters.
