When we went to Essipong Sports Stadium it was an eye saw – Dr. Kwabena Duffuor laments

Flagbearer hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr. Kwabena Duffuor has bemoaned the sorry state of the Essipong Sports Stadium.

The politician and businessman as part of his campaign to win the flagbearer elections of the NDC has been touring the country since last year.

According to him, when he visited the Essipong Sports Stadium, it was an eye saw.

"There is a need to invest hugely in sports, especially infrastructure. When we went to Essipong, it was an eye saw to invest in a project like that and watch it spoil without proper care,” Dr. Kwabena Duffuor lamented in an interview with Akoma FM.

If given the chance to lead Ghana as president, the flagbearer hopeful of the NDC says he will ensure massive investment goes into sports infrastructure.

"So we have decided to build ultra-modern stadia across all regions in Ghana when voted as President and even extend it to the District level so we can develop talents rather than relying on foreign base players.

"So if we want to develop Ghana football, then we must invest hugely,” Dr. Duffuor said.

The Essipong Sports Stadium in the Western Region has been left to rot despite a promise by the government to renovate and bring it up to standard.
