The chairman of the Black Stars management committee George Afriyie has refused to be drawn into the media war with the Minister of Youth and Sports over the Star's proposed friendly with South Africa next week.

Mr Afriyie says because he respects the Minister, Nii Lante Vanderpuye, he will only address the media on the decision the GFA has decided to take regarding the friendly after meeting with him.

This comes on the backdrop of claims by the Youth Sports Minister that he won’t sanction the Ghana vs South Africa friendly because Ghana won’t gain financially from it.

The GFA Veep in an interview with Happy FM said although the GFA were not pleased with the minister's pronouncements they can only urge him to arrange friendlies on behalf of the team.

The relationship between the FA and Sports Ministry has been a sour one since Nii Lante took over as the sector minister and the current situation will do nothing good to the already poor relationship.

Both the Ghana Football Association officials and the sports minister are in Tamale preparing for the Black Stars Russia 2018 World Cup qualifier opener against the Cranes OF Uganda on Friday October 7, 2016.
