World Cup 2022: Abdul Fatawu Issahaku – Player Profile

Published on: 14 November 2022

Talented teenager, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku has been named in the final Ghana squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Black Stars head coach Otto Addo on Monday, November 14, officially announced his 26-man squad for the upcoming tournament.

Following his inclusion, this will be the first time Abdul Fatawu Issahaku will be playing at the world cup.

He has risen to prominence not only in Ghana but across the world in the last few years where he has been a player of interest for English Premier League giants Liverpool and Manchester United.

The 18-year-old was born on March 8, 2004, and has been described as the best talent from the African continent among his generation.

He debuted for the Black Stars in a 3-1 victory over Zimbabwe in a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier in September 2021.

Since then, he has always been invited whenever Ghana had an assignment.

Before being given his Black Stars chance, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku was the poster boy for the Ghana U20 team.

He starred at the U20 AFCON in 2020 and steered the side to win gold at the end of the tournament.

His long-range shots gave him a lot of prominences and helped him to subsequently earn a big move to the Portuguese club Sporting CP.

Prior to that move, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku excelled in the Ghana Premier League where he played for giants Asante Kotoko.

He is now set to use his talent and quality to help the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
