World Cup 2022: Alphonso Davies’ early strike not enough as Croatia come from behind to hammer Canada 4-1

Published on: 27 November 2022

Canada’s main man at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Alphonso Davies scored his first goal on the biggest stage on Sunday evening in the game against Croatia.

Unfortunately, the equalizer in the 2nd minute of the Group F encounter meant nothing at the end of the 90 minutes.

Croatia put up an impressive display after going behind and managed to record a thumping 4-1 win to bag all three points.

First, Andrej Kramarić scored in the 36th minute to restore parity for Croatia after combing with Ivan Perisic before Marko Livaja also scored in the 44th minute to give the Europeans a 2-1 lead to take into the first-half break.

After the break, additional goals from Andrej Kramarić and Lovro Majer propelled Croatia to a pulsating 4-1 win.

The win means that Croatia are now top of the Group F standings of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Morocco after beating Belgium earlier in the day remains second on the log but tied on points with the Croatians.

Belgium, however, are in third with three points while Canada are out of the tournament with no point after two games.
