World Cup 2022: I’m proud to be Portuguese – South Korea coach Paulo Bento insists

South Korea head coach, Paulo Bento has stressed that he remains Portuguese although he is focused on helping his team to secure a win in the final Group H match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

The gaffer will lead South Korea to take on Portugal today in hopes of winning to have any chance of advancing to the knockout stage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the coach was asked about his links with the European country and how he feels coming up against the national team of his home country.

Coach Paulo Bento replied, “I will sing along with the Portuguese national anthem. I am a Portuguese citizen from the time I was born and die, I am proud of it.”

“I hope you ask me questions at the next press conference in Portugal,” Coach Bento said.

He however assured that he is in Qatar as head coach of the South Korean national team and that is his focus.

The match between South Korea and Portugal is scheduled to kick off at 15:00GMT later this afternoon.
