World Cup 2022: Morocco aims for a second win against France ahead of semi-final meeting

Published on: 13 December 2022

Morocco will on Wednesday, December 14, take on France in the second semi-final match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

With just a win in 11 meetings against France in the past, Morocco will now be aiming for only the second win against the world giants.

In the remaining 10 matches, France have won as many as 10 games with the other match ending in a draw.

The win that came the way of Morocco was far back in April 1963 when the North African side faced off with France for the first time.

The second match ended in a stalemate before France started its dominance to win nine straight matches.

While history may not be on the side of Morocco, the side looks geared up for the battle in midweek, especially with the whole of Africa behind them.

Since the start of the tournament, Morocco has recorded big wins against Spain and Portugal, proving that the Atlas Lions are not pushovers.

The North African side is the only side from the continent to have reached the semi-finals of a World Cup tournament.

The game between Morocco and France will kick off at 19:00GMT at the Education City Stadium.
