World Cup 2022: Portugal vs Ghana possible lineups

Portugal and Ghana will face off in their opening game of the Qatar 2022 World Cup at Stadium 974.

One of the most complete national teams in this year's World Cup tournament is probably Portugal many have tipped them to top Group H and progress to the final.

Ghana is in the midst of a transition period, with a variety of youthful talent ready to demonstrate their finest abilities and football performance.

Both countries played international friendlies before flying to Qatar. The Black Stars of Ghana beat Switzerland 2-0 in the United Arab Emirates. Portugal also thrashed the Super Eagles of Nigeria 4-0.

Portugal possible XI: Diogo Costa, Nuno Mendes, Danilo Pereira, Rúben Dias, Joao Cancelo, William Carvalho, Rúben Neves, Rafael Leão, Bruno Fernandes, Bernardo Silva, and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ghana possible XI: Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Baba Rahman, Alexander Djiku, Daniel Amartey, Tariq Lamptey, Thomas Partey, Kofi Kyereh, Andre Ayew, Mohammed Kudus, Kamaldeen Sulemana, and Iñaki Williams.

Injury news:

Portugal's World Cup squad is missing three players due to injury, none more so than Liverpool striker Diogo Jota, who was in fantastic form until suffering a major hamstring injury in early October. In addition, they are without Wolves winger Pedro Neto (ankle) and Leicester City defender Ricardo Pereira (Achilles).

Joe Wollacott, the Black Stars' goalkeeper, suffered a finger injury during a warm-up with Charlton Athletic.
