World Cup 2022: Some people want to rob us off our achievement - Morocco coach Walid Rekragui

Published on: 13 December 2022

Morocco coach, Walid Rekragui has taken a swipe at his critics following his impressive outings at the ongoing 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The young trainer has led the Atlas Lions of Morocco to the semifinals of the Mundial.

The North African side have become the first African country to achieve such a massive feast.

Morocco topped their group and eliminated Portugal in the quarterfinals to make it to the semis.

The Atlas Lions will face France on Wednesday at the “Al-Bayt” stadium in the Qatari capital, Doha.

"There is a proverb that says (victory has several fathers and defeat is an orphan), there are many who want to seize this success, but the group is the one who deserves it, not the coach or anyone else," Rekragui said as reported by Al-Boutola.

"If I had lost in the first round, I would have been on my own, but now there are many people who want to seize this achievement.

“I say thank you to the Football League, the players, and no one else. The fraudsters who say that we did this, I tell them that even though I did nothing, I only gave the players that desire and enthusiasm," he added.
