South Koreans celebrated their qualification to the knockout phase of the 2022 World Cup with Ghana cholate after Black Stars helped the Asian to progress ahead of Uruguay.

South Korea defeated Portugal, while Ghana fell to Uruguay by two goals, confirming the Asians' place in the last 16.

If Ghana had conceded one more goal in the match, Uruguay would've made it to the next round instead of Korea.

Prior to the last group game, Korea were third on Group H and were at risk of suffering elimination as they were deadlocked 1-1 with already-qualified powerhouse Portugal.

But Wolverhampton Wanderers' star Hwang Hee-chan scored in added time to clinch the win for Korea.

After the win, the team, and the fans had to wait an agonising 10 minutes to learn they would progress, when Uruguay beat Ghana but crashed out of the tournament on goal difference with Korea.

This created an electrifying atmosphere in the Asian country as a chunk of people stormed the streets of Korea to jubilate over their qualification with Ghana chocolate.

"I'm going to eat no chocolates other than Ghana until I die," one person tweeted. Another said: "What am I doing? On my way to a CVS to get a Ghana, of course."
