World Cup 2022: We have to go for it against Ghana - Uruguay coach Diego Alonso

Uruguay coach Diego Alonso has charged his players to go all out against Ghana in bid to secure a win and progress to the round of 16 of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Ghana and Uruguay face off at the Al Janoub Stadium on Friday in the final Group H game.

The two sides are in search of a ticket to the knockout stage with Ghana needing a win to automatically seal their spot in the next round of the tournament while the Uruguayans desperately need a win against Ghana to progress to the next round.

"We have one game left and we have to go for it. Without doubt, we have to win come what may," Diego Alonso said.

"We are looking for victory against Ghana, there is no doubt about it. If we have to make modifications, that is what we will do.

"For us, it's a different history. They are looking for classification, us too. It has nothing to do with what happened years ago."

The game will be a repeat of the 2010 World Cup quarter-final incident which saw Luis Suarez save his side with the handball incident as Ghana eventually bowed out of the tournament on penalty shootouts.
