Yohan Cabaye 'Flattered' by Marseille Interest Amid Crystal Palace's Relegation Battle

Published on: 06 February 2017

Crystal Palace midfielder Yohan Cabaye has acknowledged recent interest from Marseille and has hinted that a move back to France could be possible in the near future.

Nevertheless, the French international has pledged his immediate future to the Eagles who are currently embodied in a desperate relegation scrap.

But a move back to his homeland could tempt the 31-year-old in the summer regardless of Palace's situation next season.

"It's flattering, because OM are one of the great French clubs," Cabaye told L'Equipe, as perTalkSport.

Sam Allardyce's under-performing troops surrendered pathetically as they were swept aside 4-0 by Sunderland at Selhurst Park and now the London club are one of the favourites to face the dreaded drop.

Cabaye insists he is fully focused on the club's current plight and is desperate to maintain their Premier League status.

"We're in a difficult situation," he admitted.

"I'm trying my best to help my team as best I can. I have immense respect for the coach, but today that's the reality with my club."

The Frenchman was a revelation at the club under Alan Pardewwhen he first joined from Paris Saint-Germain, but his current form coincides with the dreadful dip the entire side has suffered in the last 13 months.

Palace were the worst-performing Premier League side in 2016 and have continued this year in the same dire vein of form.

If the club are to drag themselves out of the mess are they in, their big players need to start performing. Cabaye was brought in to add experience and class to the Eagles' midfield and at the moment, he is simply not doing what is required of him.
