Ex-Ghana head coach Avram Grant believes Zambia has the potential to be a force in Africa in the future.
The 67-year-old has penned a two-year contract with an option for another year with the Chipolopolo.
Grant faces a daunted task to qualify Zambia to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
"I think Zambia has the potential, we have set the targets of what we want to achieve."
"I came here because of the challenge and I hope when I leave here I will look around and say we did a good job and made a good foundation for the future," Grant said at a press conference in Lusaka.
Grant has previous experience managing in Africa, having led Ghana to the final at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where they were beaten on penalties by Ivory Coast.
However, he left his role as Black Stars coach after finishing fourth in the AFCON two years later, losing to eventual winners Cameroon.
Grant replaces Croatian gaffer Aljosa Asanovic, who resigned in September 2022 after just nine months.
During his spell as the manager of English giants Chelsea, Grant guided the London club to the final of the UEFA Champions League in 2008, where they lost to Manchester United on penalty shootouts.
