Man City boss Guardiola: What I REALLY think about Mendy

Published on: 13 October 2017

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has hailed the impact of Benjamin Mendy.

Despite his knee injury setback, Mendy is still making his presence felt amongst his teammates.

Guardiola spoke at last night's 'Manchester City's Evening with Manager', presented by Betsafe.

He said of Mendy: “He is a guy on the pitch who is so important but especially off the pitch, we were a good team last season and had good guys but we were quiet and I think he is a guy who can help us to make our lives happier. I've told him, he can come in the locker room every day, he should be with us and he is a special guy."

Guardiola also stated on team spirit: “I think it is a big mistake when you say that a player is more important than others. If when you play, you play with 10 defenders and 1 person attacking and he wins the game then yes, of course, that player will be the most important but I am the guy who hates when even one person is not running – he has to run.

"But with the ball, everybody has to play. Everyone has to be involved in everything and that is why everything is important even with the players who don't play, everyone is important."
