2018 AWCON: Ghana winger Sherifatu Sumaila upbeat despite losing 2-1 to Mali

Black Queens winger Sherifatu Sumaila is upbeat despite the losing 2-1 to Mali in the second group A game in the ongoing African Women's Cup of Nations at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Sumaila believes Ghana will bounce back after the defeat to Mali to qualify to the semi-final of the competition.

Mali opened the scoring in the 22nd-minute courtesy Bassira Toure strike from the spot after she was brought down Ghana's goalkeeper Patricia Mantey.

The Queens restored parity in the 75th minute also from a penalty converted by captain Elizabeth Addo.

But Mali never dropped their heads and maintained the pressure on the hosts before regaining the lead in the 75th minute courtesy of a goalkeeping howler.

The LA Galaxy Orange player has called on Ghanaians to avoid blame games and believe they can beat Cameroon in their final group game.

Ghana will play Cameroon, who have won both of their games on Friday with a place in the semi-finals at stake.

The Black Queens could also miss out on a place at next year's FIFA Women's World Cup in France if they fail to win on Friday.
