Algeria head coach Djamel Belmadi says their target in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 in Egypt is to reach the round 16 of the competition.
According to the 43-year-old said, Algeria would not go into the competition to add to the numbers but would fight till the final.
Speaking ahead of the big tournament, the former Olympic Marseille midfielder said, “it would be necessary to fight for the title like all the big African football nations and also enter the competition with the necessary confidence and go little by little as far as possible”.
“It is will be more open for all qualified teams especially that all teams will have their say as we have seen during the qualifiers. Nothing would be easy in this competition, because currently there are no more small teams”, he added.
Algeria have been placed in Group C alongside Senegal, Kenya and Tanzania.
The Algerians would open their account on June 23 against Kenya.
