2020/21 Ghana Premier League: Kotoko CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah threatens to resign?

The Chief Executive Officer [CEO] of Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah has threatened to resign.

This comes following their 1-0 defeat to Accra Great Olympics on Thursday at the Accra Sports Stadium in an outstanding match.

Following the shocking results, Maxwell Konadu, who is the head coach of the side has been sacked on Friday morning.

However, assistant coach of the side, Johnson Smith has been named as the interim coach of the side.

According to Kumasi based Pure FM's OB Trice, Nana Yaw Amponsah is frustrated and has threatened to resign as the CEO of the club.

Asante Kotoko, who are representing Ghana in the Caf Champions League has been poor in the ongoing 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.

After four matches played, the Porcupine Warriors have recorded just one win, losing one and drawing two games.

After their against Olympics, Nana Yaw Amponsah expressed his frustrations to the players and the management team and threatened to quit his position due to the internal frustrations.

The fast-rising football administrator replaced George Amoako on a three-year deal.

Nana Yaw Amponsah joined the club with many expectations and has secured over five sponsors for the club.

However, this is not the first time the 2019 Ghana Football Association [GFA] presidential candidate has threatened to quit his role.

It would be recalled that Mr Amponsah threatened to resign when the board prevented him from bringing in his our people to run the club but after negotiations, he was permitted to appoint his own people to form the management team of the club.

Asante Kotoko will now turn their attention to Dreams FC at the Theatre of Dreams on Sunday before hosting Al Hilal in the Caf Champions League preliminary round game at the Accra Sports Stadium.
