The Black Stars who were tasked to end the country's 40 years trophy drought shamefully exited the tournament without a win.

Ghana's hopes were crashed out after losing 3-2 defeat to debutant, Comoros in their final Group C game.

The Black Stars finished bottom of their group with just a point.

With calls emerging for the dissolution of the team and the sacking of Milovan Rajevac, Mr Acheampong admits that the Black Stars were poor in the tournament.

According to him, despite the team's early elimination, the Black Stars will cruise over Nigeria in the 2022 World Cup playoffs.

"I must admit that the Black Stars were poor," he said following the draw of the playoffs.

"We are playing Nigeria and I know it will not come easy but I believe we can beat the Super Eagles and qualify for the World Cup.

"It is sad we are out of the tournament but the Black Stars will surely get better," he added.

Ghana will have home advantage first and both legs will be played between March 21 and 29 with the aggregate winners securing a place at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

The Black Stars will be hoping to return to the Mundial having missed out in Russia in 2018.
