Asante Kotoko came out on top in their Ashanti derby with AshantiGold via a lone goal to temporarily leapfrog Hearts of Oak to the top spot in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors desperately needed a victory to keep their hopes of winning the title alive and they managed to get it done thanks to a strike from Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama.

In the second half, the two teams created opportunities to find the back of the net but it was not to be and Kotoko were able to grab the victory.

They are now top of the league standings with 50 points and AshantiGold are 10th with 34 points.
