2022/23 Ghana Premier League matchday 9: Accra Lions v Samartex FC preview

Following a month-long break, the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League season will resume on Monday, December 19.

The campaign resumes next week and the league will enter matchday 9 for clubs to continue fighting for points to push to reach their targets for the season.

For this matchday, there will be matches played on Monday through to Wednesday, December 21.

On Monday, Accra Lions will be in action when the team takes on Samartex FC. Due to the unavailability of the Accra Sports Stadium, Accra Lions have been forced to move the match to the WAFA Park in Sogakope.

The hosts, Accra Lions were in stellar form before the Ghana Premier League went on break.

With three wins and two defeats from the previous five matches, the side is second on the League table.

The team aims to resume with a winning start by beating Samartex FC to push to climb to the summit of the league table.

The opponent, Samartex FC had a very slow start to the league season and needs to do better when the league comes back.

However, after managing to win their last two matches before the league went on break, Samartex FC moved out of the relegation zone to the 13th spot on the league log.

Prediction:

A lot of have changed since the league went on break for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. On the back of that this fixture will be difficult to decide.

Although Accra Lions are the favourites slightly, they will have to dig deep to get something out of this game.
