2022/23 Ghana Premier League week 31: Kotoku Royals 1-3 Asante Kotoko - Report

Asante Kotoko recorded a massive 3-1 victory over the relegated Akyem Kotoku Royals on Monday afternoon in match week 31 of the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

This win marks Asante Kotoko's first victory in four league games, following two draws and a defeat.

With this triumph, Asante Kotoko moves up to fourth position with 47 points, trailing league leaders Medeama SC by six points. Medeama SC currently stands at 53 points.

The visitors took the lead after just 10 minutes, courtesy of their Cameroonian striker, George Rodrigue Mfegue. Mfegue further extended the lead for the Porcupine Warriors 18 minutes after scoring the opening goal, putting them in a comfortable position.

Playing for pride after their relegation, Kotoku Royals provided their fans with something to cheer about as they reduced the deficit through Richard Dzikoe's goal in the 35th minute.

However, Asante Kotoko reestablished their two-goal advantage by scoring a third goal in the 51st minute through the young player Rocky Dwamena, securing a comprehensive victory for Coach Abdul Gazale's side.

In their next match, Asante Kotoko will face Karela United on Sunday, while Kotoku Royals will also compete against GoldStars on the same day.
