Ghana is still locked in talks with Bayer Leverkusen winger Callum Hudson-Odoi over nationality switch ahead of the 2022 World Cup which will be held in Qatar.

The 2022 World Cup will kick off on November 20 to December 18 in Doha, Qatar.

According to a report filed by Supersport, the Ghana Football Association has abandoned talks with Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah and focused more on Callum Hudson-Odoi.

“He (Nketiah) has not committed but Hudson-Odoi could be added as he is still engaging with the GFA,” a source told Supersport.

Hudson-Odoi also enjoyed considerable success at youth level for England, being part of the squad which ended as runners-up in the UEFA European Under-17 Championship and which won the FIFA U-17 World Cup in the same year.

In March 2019, he became the youngest player to debut in a competitive match for England, doing so in UEFA Euro 2020 qualifiers against the Czech Republic.

On 11 October 2019, Hudson-Odoi made his England U-21 debut during a 2–2 draw against the Slovenia U-21s in Maribor.

In August 2021, Hudson-Odoi turned down the opportunity to play for the England under-21 team against Romania and Kosovo.

Callum Hudson-Odoi is currently on loan at Bayer Leverkusen from Chelsea. He has played five games in the Bundesliga this season and assisted one goal.
