Goalkeeper's trainer of the Black Stars, Richard Kingson, says he is aiming to help the team play in the semifinals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

The former Blackpool goalkeeper was a member of the Black Stars’ team that became only the third African nation to reach the last eight of the World Cup in 2010 in South Africa.

“We all have different feelings and different dimensions, you know, but me personally I have belief in the team,” Kingston, who was Ghana’s number one at the 2006 and 2010 World Cups said.

“I cannot assure you that we are going to win the trophy, but I am hoping that we will go more than the quarterfinals, so that I Richard Kingston, as the goalkeepers’ trainer, can set a new record.”

Ghana will open their campaign at the World Cup against Portugal on November 24 before coming up against South Korea four days later and Uruguay on December 2.

The Black Stars will officially open camp for the Mundial on November 10 and will take on Switzerland on November 17 in Abu Dhabi.
