2022 World Cup: I will still support Black Stars even if I am not invited for tourney - Emmanuel Gyasi

Published on: 07 April 2022

Spezia Calcio forward, Emmanuel Gyasi has vowed to support the Black Stars even if he does not get a call up for the 2022 World Cup.

The 28 year old after making his debut against South Africa during the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers has struggled to earn a call up back to the team.

Despite his impressive form in the ongoing Serie A season, Gyasi was overlooked ahead of the 2022 World Cup playoff games against Nigeria.

Ahead of the Mundial scheduled to be hosted in Qatar, Gyasi said he will continue to work hard to earn a place in the team but will still support the team if he is overlooked.

"I always work so hard to try to achieve my goals. I'm always trying to improve, in every game, in every training session,” said the 28-year-old told GOAL.

“So, I'll give it everything I have and if the coach thinks I can help the team, it would be fantastic to be called up. I would be so happy. But even if I don't get to go to Qatar, I'll still support the team from home. It wouldn't be a problem."

So far this season, Gyasi has made 30 Serie A appearances and scored five goals for Spezia.

Ghana are in Group H alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.

The Black Stars will open their campaign against Portugal before their second group game against Uruguay.

The West African country will wrap up their group phase games against South Korea.
