2022 World Cup playoffs: Just one home-based player included in Ghana’s squad to face Nigeria

Interim Ghana head coach, Otto Addo has named just one home-based player in his Black Stars squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash against Nigeria later this month.

Having missed the last edition of the global showpiece, Ghana is desperately eager to secure the ticket to compete with the rest of the world at this year’s mundial.

In the final round of the African qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Ghana has been drawn to face sworn rivals Nigeria in a two-legged encounter.

Today, Ghana head coach Otto Addo has named his squad for the upcoming important games.

In the list released on Tuesday morning, Hearts of Oak defender Denis Korsah is the only home-based players included.

Besides Dennis Korsah, Felix Afena-Gyan, Elisha Owusu, and Denis Odoi, who are making their debuts, familiar faces Thomas Partey, Daniel Amartey, Andy Yiadom, and several other top players are set to arrive in the country by the close of day to commence preparation for the upcoming two-legged tie against Nigeria.

Ghana will host the first leg of the encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, March 25, 2022, before travelling to Abuja for the reverse fixture on Tuesday, March 29, 2022.
