2022 World Cup qualifiers: Black Stars attitude against Ethiopia was poor - Abubakari Damba

Published on: 12 November 2021

Former Ghana goalkeeper, Abubakari Damba has criticized the game plan and the attitude of the Black Stars players after their 1-1 draw game against Ethiopia.

The four-time African champions after taking the lead with Andre Ayew's superb's strike in the first half against the Walias failed to keep their composure.

In the second half, the Ethiopians dominated the game and finally found the back of the net through Getaneh Kebede's strike to end the game in a stalemate.

The draw leave the Black Stars at the 2nd position with 10 points.

According to the former Dreams FC goalkeeper's trainer, the attitude of the players and the game plan especially in the second half was poor and abysmal.

"We were better in the first half and I was expecting that we improve on that in the second half but we failed to keep our composure," he said on GTV Sports Plus.

"We played poorly in the second half and it was shocking.

"Our attitude and game plan was poor and I think we were lucky not have to concede more goals because we lost concentration at some point.

"This is not good enough if you want to qualify for a tournament and I am expecting a better performance on Sunday against South Africa," he added.

The Black Stars will however host South Africa, who sit top of Group G with 13 points in their final Group G games on Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 19:00GMT.
