2023/24 Ghana Premier League: Week 5 Match Preview - Legon Cities v Bechem United

Published on: 13 October 2023

Legon Cities will welcome Bechem United, who have been in a dismal form to the El-Wak Stadium in matchday 5 of the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.

The Royals are eager to continue their winning run on home turf when they host the Hunters in the crucial encounter. The Accra-based club have made it two out of two on home turf and will aim to maintain their perfect home start to the campaign.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin’s outfit have managed two wins, one defeat and one draw after four matches into the Ghanaian top-flight. The Accra-based club will be seeking for a win having shared the spoils in their previous fixture against Nations FC.

On the other side, Bechem United have been unimpressive in the campaign so far, having suffered three defeats and one win in the opening four games.

These early setbacks have raised doubts about the competence of coach Bismark Kobi Mensah, who replaced Kasim Mingle before the start of the 2023/24 season. The Hunters suffered a 2-1 defeat on home turf against Medeama in the previous, where some fans called for the sacking of the coach.

After just four games into the season, Bechem United sit bottom on the league, accumulating just three points. Coach Kobi Mensah, who nearly got sack in the course of the week has been given two games to redeem himself.

The Hunters will be aiming for a change in fortunes when they take on Legon Cities on Sunday.

It promises to be a thrilling encounter as both teams will be yearning for maximum points at stake.

The Ghana Football Association has appointed Reginald Collins Amoah to officiate the much-anticipating encounter.
