2023 AFCON qualifier: Ghana coach Otto Addo happy with Black Stars performance against Madagascar

Ghana head coach Otto Addo is delighted with Black Stars performance in their 3-0 win over Madagascar in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Black Stars got their qualifying campaign underway in style at the Cape Coast stadium on Wednesday as they cruised to a comfortable victory.

AS Roma youngster Felix Afena-Gyan set up the opener for Mohamed Kudus early in the second half and Afena-Gyan swiftly doubled the Black Stars' lead. Osman Bukari netted late on to secure three points for Ghana in the Group E match.

"Good goalkeeper, I didn’t count the number of shots on goal but he had some good saves. We created chances so I’m happy," coach Addo said at the post-match press conference.

"But this is football, not all shots will go in. In all, I was satisfied, even though it was 0-0, there was not much I could say. They just had to keep playing that way."

The result means Ghana go top of Group E with a better goal difference after Angola defeated Central Africa Republic 2-1 in the group's other game earlier in the day with a better goal difference.

The Black Stars will travel to play the Central African Republic in four days' time while Madagascar hosts Angola in the group's other game.
