2023 AFCON qualifiers: Mohammed Salisu doubtful for Ghana vs Angola game - Chris Hughton

Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton has said Southampton defender Mohammed Salisu is a fitness doubt for Ghana's 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying game against Angola on Thursday, March 23.

The new Ghana boss said this at the pre-game press conference in Kumasi on Wednesday ahead of tomorrow's encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The 23-year-old defender has only returned from injury and played his first 83 minutes in for the club against Tottenham on Saturday.

“Our only injury concern is Salisu; he’s a doubt for the game because he’s suffered some recent injuries at his club," the former Brighton and Hove Albion boss said.

The rest of the team, including Salis Abdul Samed, who just joined the team today, will take part in the final training session after the press conference.

Ghana is join top of Group E with Angola, having four points each from their first two group games.
