Nigeria goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has no qualms with Ronwen Williams winning the Best Goalkeeper award at the just-ended 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The South Africa captain put up a stellar performance to win the Best Shot Stopper award at the tournament. He played a crucial role in helping the Bafana Bafana reach the semifinals for the time since 2000.
His outstanding performance did not go unnoticed after he was named the best goalkeeper at the continental showpiece.
However, Nwabali, who was also a contender for the best goalkeeper award admitted Ronwen Williams deserves the accolade.
“To be honest, it’s not a piece of news to me him winning the best goalkeeper award because he deserves it. He is a very good goalkeeper. I congratulate and wish him well” he said.
South Africa finished third at the end of the tournament after beating DR Congo 6-5 on penalties following a goalless draw in regular time.
