2023 Africa Cup of Nations: Black Stars to camp in Ivory Coast ahead of tournament - Reports

The senior national team, the Black Stars will camp in Ivory Coast ahead of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), Kumasi-based Pure FM have reported.

Ghana will be participating in the 34th edition of the AFCON slated to kick off from January 13 to February 11 in Abidjan.

Last week, Deputy Sports Minister, Evans Bobie Opoku revealed that he is unaware of where the team will camp ahead do the tournament.

“Nothing has come before the Sports Ministry concerning where Ghana will pitch camp ahead of AFCON 2023. When we get such an information, we will interrogate it and let the people of Ghana know,” he said to Citi Sports.

However, the team is now expected to camp in Ivory Coast ahead of the tournament.

The Sports Ministry and the Ghana Football Association (GFA) have sent a delegation to Ivory Coast to settle on a camping base for the team ahead of the tournament according to the report.

Ghana, who are four-time African champions are in Group B for the tournament and will face Cape Verde, Egypt and Mozambique in the tournament which will be hosted in Ivory Coast next year.

The Black Stars of Ghana will first come up against Cape Verde at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium in Abidjan on January 14, 2024, then face Egypt at the same venue four days later and then Mozambique at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on January 22, 2024.
