Ghana Premier League side Nsoatreman FC believes their midfielder Abdul Manaf Umar can make a significant impact for the Black Stars at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament when given the chance.

Some home-based players including Kotoko's Richmond Lamptey, Hearts of Oak duo of Salifu Ibrahim and Kelvin Osei Asibey, and Stephen Banahene of Bibiani Goldstars have received massive endorsement from top football personalities for their inclusion in the Black Stars squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament next month.

But Nsoatreman FC opines their midfielder and former Real Tamale United players has performed better than any other local player in the league and thus, deserves a direct invite into the Black Stars.

“The statistics are clear: Abdul Manaf Umar stands out among his peers in the Premiership and deserves direct call-up to the senior national team. With his impressive passing abilities and playing style, he is poised to make significant impact for the country in the upcoming AFCON” the club wrote on X.

Meanwhile, Ghana coach Chris Hughton has submitted 50-man provisional lists to the Ghana Football Association which included five home-based players for assessment.

The former Hearts of Oak midfielder has been in a rich vein of form for Nsoatreman FC in the ongoing Ghana Premier League campaign. He has bagged six goals and provided three assists in 12 games for the Nsoatre-based club.
