Ghana coach Avram Grant has created competition for captain Asamoah Gyan and Jordan Ayew ahead of this month's Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.

The Israeli trainer has named Schalke O4 young striker Bernard Tekpetey and Ebenezer Assifuah of Sion in his final squad for the competition.

The current form of Tekpetey and Assifuah at club level is something that many see as positive following what has been a dull season for both Gyan and Jordan this season at club level.

Gyan and Jordan have been leading Ghana's attack for some years now but the emergence of the two youngsters could end that partnership at this year's tournament.

Avram Grant and his team are currently in the United Arab Emirates preparing for the tournament which begins in a forth night.

Ghana are drawn in Group D with Mali, Egypt and Uganda.
