The Black Stars will face the Harambee Stars on Sunday for the AFCON 2019 qualifier in Nairobi, and the absence of the regular captain Asamoah Gyan has sparked rumours tipping Athletico Madrid's Thomas Partey to wear the armband, but the assistant coach Ibrahim Tanko says such decision is yet to be taken.

"We have not decided who will captain the team yet, that decision will be taken this evening after training", Tanko told FOX 97.9 FM.

Many have claimed that returnee Kwadwo Asamoah is the coach's favourite to replace Asamoah Gyan as the permanent captain but Tanko has completely quashed such claims.

"We have heard a lot of people saying we have given the captaincy to Kwadwo Asamoah but all those are not true, we will decide who captains the team (against Kenya) this evening", Tanko confirmed.
