Senegalese midfielder Kreppin Diatta has revealed that the Teranga Lions have learned from their 1-0 defeat to Algeria in the group stage as they prepare to face them in the final of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.

The biggest tournament on the continent is a day away from its climax and will feature a North African side coming up against a West African side in the grand finale tomorrow.

This is not the first time Algeria will play Senegal at this year’s tournament though. The two teams locked horns in the second match of Group C during the preliminary stage where the Desert Foxes emerged as 1-0 winners.

Ahead of the final tomorrow, workaholic midfielder Kreppin Diatta has indicated that Senegal knows how important it is to play in the final and has learned from the mistakes they did when they lost to Algeria at the group phase.

“My teammates in the youth teams tell me I'm their representative in this team. I'm proud to play for my country and I hope to make them proud too”.

"We are motivated to play the final. We made mistakes when we played against Algeria in the group stage but we learnt the lesson and now we just want to win this match”, the player said in an interview with CAF media.

He further shared that the Teranga Lions will give off their best to ensure they lift the trophy at the end of the day.

“I'm here because of some hard work with my team. All what's in my head is to do our best to win”, Diatta said.

The match comes off at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday night at 19:00GMT.
