African football expert, Ed Dove has predicted that Ghana will be eliminated in the round of 16 stage of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Black Stars wrapped up their AFCON qualifiers in style with a 3-1 win over Sao Tome and Principe last Sunday at the Accra Sports stadium.

Ghana finished top on Group C table with 13 points to book a place in next year’s Nations Cup to be held in Cameroon from January to February 2022.

Giving his prediction ahead of the competition, Ed Dove stated, Ghana will be eliminated at the round of 16 stage.

23 teams have qualified for tournament namely, Algeria, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Comoros, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Morocco, Nigeria, Senegal, Sudan, Tunisia and Zimbabwe.

The remaining place rests between Benin and Sierra Leone, whose fixture in Freetown did not take place because the visitors challenged Covid-19 results after five of their key players tested positive.

Benin will have to avoid defeat in the rescheduled fixture against Sierra Leone in June to qualify, while The Leone Stars must win to progress.
