Allardyce not ruling out Everton relegation fight

Published on: 22 January 2018

Everton manager Sam Allardyce believes the club must not believe they are out of the relegation fight just yet.

Despite some impressive results for Everton since the new manager arrived, the club has also suffered some difficult defeats. It leaves them in a precarious position. While they are 9th in the table with 28 points, it is only six off the relegation spots.

Big Sam spoke about whether he was worried that his team could be back in the relegation fight after the defeat to Spurs and draw with West Brom.

"Yes, very, especially after performing like that and last week's second half performance when they went 2-0 down," he said.

"I've seen a huge drain of confidence in the players in the space of one and a half football matches.

"The quality of the Tottenham side, I could accept that, but West Brom are in the bottom three."

"Well it was a false sense of security if they think like that [already being safe].

"I know the situation. We have gone from top six to bottom four in points (collected), in two runs of six games. The first six games we were right up there and then the last six we have gone right down there to points which equate to relegation form."
