Ghana captain Andre Ayew has emerged as Ghana’s top scorer in the French Ligue 1 this season with his fifth goal of the campaign coming over the weekend.

The 35-year-old has done so playing only 17 games since joining Le Havre in November 2023.

The only other Ghanaian player to score in the French league this season is Ernest Nuamah, who has three goals for Olympique Lyonnais.

Andre Ayew’s fifth goal of the season came for Le Havre in their 3-1 victory over Strasbourg in Ligue 1 on Saturday afternoon.

The 34-year-old started the game and lasted the full 90 minutes, leading his team to victory.

Yassine Kechta opened the scoring for Le Havre in the 24th minute with a powerful header from Josué Casimir's cross.

Kechta then doubled the lead in the 65th minute with another header, this time from very close range.

Frédéric Guilbert pulled one back for Strasbourg in the 86th minute with a header from Dilane Bakwa's cross, but Ayew had the final say in the game.

In the sixth minute of stoppage time, Ayew scored a brilliant left-footed goal from the left side of the box, assisted by Samuel Grandsir.
