Allofs calm over Draxler interest

Published on: 06 November 2018

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs has admitted that interest from a number of elite clubs has been shown in Germany forward Julian Draxler.

The 22-year-old is currently in action with Die Mannschaft at the European Championships, having enjoyed a fine first season with Wolfsburg following his move from Schalke in the summer of 2015.

He has a long-term contract with us. We plan to stick with it.

And Allofs accepts that his club may be fending off interest from a number of top European outfits later on this summer, although he is not as concerned as he could be due to Draxler being under contract until the summer of 2020.

He told Sport Bild: "It is clear that Wolfsburg is not the end of his dreams - neither was Schalke. There are clubs like Real Madrid, FC Barcelona or one or other club from England.

"But Julian knows exactly how the contractual situation is. He has a long-term contract with us. We plan to stick with it."

Meanwhile, Schalke have told Leroy Sane to decide sooner rather than later whether he wants to stay with the club for next season.

The 20-year-old forward is also currently on international duty at Euro 2016, with rumours of interest from the English Premier League continuing to do the rounds.

And Die Konigsblauen says they need a final decision from Sane in the near future, so that they can make plans for next term and for a possible replacement if the talented youngster opts to move on.

Schalke sporting executive, Christian Heidel, commented: "Leroy Sane has to make a fundamental decision regarding his future after the Euro. FC Schalke 04 needs a certain planning security."

Schalke are 5000/1 to win the Bundesliga title next season, with Wolfsburg priced at 5000/1 and Borussia Dortmund available at 5000/1.
