Andre Ayew confident Swansea can regain top spot in the English Championship

Ghanaian international Andre Dede Ayew has expressed optimism in his Swansea City side’s abilities to overtake West Bromwich Albion in the summit of the English Championship table as the season progresses.

The Swans have been on a good run of form since the start of the season and were top of the division standings before the last round of matches to the international break.

They, unfortunately, lost points in their match against Stoke City and in turn were overtaken by West Brom who are now 1st on the table.

In an interview ahead of the return of the English Championship, Andre Ayew has expressed confidence in the abilities of Swansea City and has noted that they will eventually go back to the top of the table as the season goes on.

“We’re going to learn from that game. It may not seem like it now, but this will be a good lesson for us”.

“We’re still in it; we’re only a point away from the leaders. We always need to be ready for any challenge that the Championship brings.

“We’ve done great things this season and some that aren’t so great. But what we’re doing at the moment is good and we need to continue that”, the Black Stars captain told Swansea City’s official website.

He added, “We’re working hard, training well and we need to keep that going. A lot of teams would love to be where we are in the table. I believe in the squad – there is no problem.

“When you’re towards the top of the table, you have to respond when things go wrong – that’s very important”.

Swansea City currently sits 4th on the championship standings but just a point behind the leaders. A win in the next round of matches could totally change the shape at the top.
