Anfield Legend Ian Rush Warns Jurgen Klopp Against Buying a Striker in January

Published on: 25 November 2016

Anfieldlegend Ian Rush has warned Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp against signing a striker this January.

The Reds have been prolific in-front of goal so far this season, scoring 30 times in 12 games which has seen them become the Premier League's top scorers.

And Rush believes that the firepower of Sadio Mane,Philippe Coutinho and Roberto Firmino is enough to see the Reds through until the end of the season.

I don't think they need a poacher though I know everybody likes to see that. The way they're playing is different now and Jurgen Klopp is rotating everyone, Rush told888sport.

There isn't a main striker and you have Firmino, Coutinho, Lallana and Sturridge who are rotating and adapting to each other. When one runs into a space the other moves wide left for example and it's called a football brain and that's what is needed.

They're not just playing in one position whereas an out-and-out goalscorer will just stay in the one space.

With so many different people scoring it's made Liverpool a better team.

We're going to need Daniel Sturridge. He's got to be patient and his time will come," #LFC https://t.co/UrM9TOHdy4

On the topic of injury-prone striker Daniel Sturridge, Rush said he 'has to be patient' and 'his time will come', as he deems him as the best finisher at the club.

He added:We're going to need Daniel Sturridge. He's got to be patient and his time will come. He's the best finisher at the club and he's absolutely superb but he needs to get his head down and get on with it.

"Sulking doesn't help anyone. He will get a chance and he's got to take them when they come.

He has to create a problem for the manger and if you're in a sulk you're just making it easy for the manager.
