According to the Ghana Football Association (GFA), cancelling the 2019/20 football season will cost them over $2.2 million.
The Executive Council of the country's football governing body on Tuesday, June 30 announced the cancellation of the season following the Coronavirus pandemic which has halted football activities in the Ghana since March.
“MTN made 1.1 million Ghana Cedis investment in the FA Cup so far. 800,000 cedis in cash and 300,000 cedis in products," the Communications Director of the GFA, Henry Asante Twum told Angel FM.
"StarTimes would have invested a little in excess of one million Ghana cedis of which they have paid some.
"The projections from NASCO for their products is estimated at $1.1.
“The football association spent at least Gh¢6,000 on every match day.
"This money went into paying referees, cameramen and Venue Media Officers," he added.
The date for the 2020/21 football season will be announced by the Ghana Football Association in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko and AshantiGold SC have been selected to represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League and Confederations Cup competition.
