Arsenal and Tottenham played out a combative draw at the Emirates on Sunday, denying the Gunners the chance to go top.

Harry Kane's second half penalty cancelled out Kevin Wimmer's own goal and sawSpurs remain unbeaten in the Premier League

Kane returned from injury to startforthe visitors who made the brighter start of the two sides, with Mauricio Pochettino opting to switch to a three at the back system.

And it was Kane who almost opened the scoring, glancing a Christian Eriksen cross just wide of the far post.

Alex Iwobi had Arsenal's bestsight of goal from an excellent counter attack in whatwas an opening half hour of few chances. Alexis Sanchez's through ball was weightedperfectly, but the young Nigerian'stame effort was straight into the welcoming arms of Hugo Lloris.

A tight and tactical first half was brought to life when Theo Walcott hit a rasping drive against the woodwork from distance, with Lloris well beaten.

Arsenal weren't to be denied for long, though. A floated free kick from Ozil wasinadvertentlyheaded into the back of the Spurs net by defender Wimmer to put the home side in front just beforehalf time.

It was a deserved lead after an impressive end to the half from the home side, although there werehints of a possibleoffside from the ball in.

Arsenal seemed comfortable as the second half began, until Moussa Dembele was tripped in the box by Shkodran Mustafi, prompting Mark Clattenburg to point to the spot. Kane duly converted the penalty to put Spurs back on level terms on his Premier League return.

They were almost in front minutes later, Petr Cech saving low down from an Eriksen shot after the ball had dropped kindlyat the Dane's feet.

Kane was then brilliantlydenied a tap in by Nacho Monreal as Spurs started to look the more threatening of the sides.

Arsenal still posed a threat at the other end in a second half that looked as though it could go either way. Lloris was quick to block at the feet of Ozil from close range with 20 minutes remaining.

Spurs seemed content to leave the Emirates with a point as the game entered the last ten minutes, but they came within inches of a second goal. Eriksen's freekick beat everyone and ricocheted off the post, giving Arsenal a lucky escape.

Olivier Giroud had a late chance for Arsenal but his header was too close to Lloris. It proved the final opportunity of the game as the North London derby ended in stalemate.
