Emiliano Martinez has committed his future to Arsenal by penning a new long-term contract, with the club.

The Gunners' official site made the announcement on Thursday afternoon, but failed to disclose just how long the new deal would run until.

Martinez, who has turned out 10 times for Arsenal's senior side since his2010 move to England from Independiente, expressed his delight at putting pen to paper extending his stay at the Emirates.

Martinez told the club's website: It feels amazing to be honest. I've been here for six or seven years already and to have the opportunity to sign a new deal is a great achievement for me and my family.

This is a big step for me, signing a new deal for Arsenal, training every day with big goalkeepers, big players and I feel like I'm one of them now. I really want to reach the top level.

Arsenal means everything to me. I grew up here, I learnt English here and I've got everything in the UK. I love this club and I want to be the No 1 goalkeeper here for many years.

Congratulations, @emimartinezz1 ï”´ https://t.co/IepMdQ6tVW

Since I signed for this club, Gerry Peyton [Arsenal goalkeeping coach] told me that I had great talent and that I was the future. I think this moment is now and I'm trying to push forward. The boss is giving me the League Cup and I'm trying to prove myself, to show the fans and everyone how good I am.

It's not just about playing well in a game, it's about being the first one to arrive and the last one to leave training too. I'm one of them, which is why my future is here.

Martinez, 24, joined Arsenal's youth academy for a reported £1m in July 2010, and has enjoyed multiple loanspells on loan at lower league clubs, during his time in North London.

Great news that Emi has signed a new long-term contract, congrats @emimartinezz1! #COYG

The Argentine shot stopper has featured for Oxford United, Rotherham, Wolves and Sheffield Wednesday in the past four seasons, and has been deployed as the club's EFL Cup goalkeeper this term.

Martinez, who has represented Argentina at youth level, currently ranks asthe club's third choice keeper behindPetr Cech and David Ospina in Arsenal's first-team squad, but the rising talentmay be afforded further opportunities to impress in the future, with Cech entering the twilight of his playing career and Ospina's future unclear.
