Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker is in talks with the club about a job beyond the pitch.
Mertesacker's deal has been extended into another season.
Local journalists in Germany put to the Arsenal club captain that he may consider retiring after the end of the 2017-18 season, to which he said he would "look at how healthy I am and decide", while expressing an interest in remaining in the sport in some capacity.
"Arsenal would like to keep me, as there are already talks: it will be in the operational business, I will be on the other side."
