Arsenal Goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny in Talks to Return to Serie A Side Roma

Arsenal goalkeeperWojciech Szczesny is in talks to return to Roma on another season-long loan according to manager Luciano Spalletti.

Szczesny made 34 appearances in Serie A as he was sent out by Arsene Wenger last seasonfor regular first team football.

The arrival of Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech meant the Poland international's chances were severely limited at the Emirates, especially givenhisreputation for erratic displays.

The 26-year-old made a big impression in Rome however, as Roma comfortably finished third to claim their spot in the Champions League for next season.

And despite the Giallorossi signing Brazilian goalkeeper Allison ahead of the new campaign, Spalletti confirmed he wants to re-sign Szczesny from The Gunners.

"Both the goalkeepers [Allison and Bogdan Lobont] are strong, but we still don't have Szczesny,"he said, according to theMetro.

"We have two strong goalkeepers, so we'll see their reaction but that's always an advantage.

"We're working on Szczesny, for now we have Lobont."

Szczesny was Arsenal's undisputed number one since 2011, but a series of errors and poor performances led to Wenger looking to Cech to add some reliabilityto his backline.

The Pole has made over 150 appearances at the Emirates, but another temporary move away is likely, which could put Szczesny's long-term future in north London in serious doubt.

The 26-year-old will not want to wait around to be Cech's understudy for the foreseeable future and the chance to play regularly in Serie A and the Champions League would be too good an opportunity to turn down.
